UWA Medical Graduate Simone Spry

I entered Medicine after completing TEE at my local rural high school, Narrogin SHS. I worked full-time for a year after finishing Year 12 and started studying Medicine in 2003.

Studying Medicine was very rewarding, but there have also been many challenges, including moving away from my family to study in Perth. I really enjoyed the clinical years of the course and feel so privileged to be involved in patient’s care and their lives. I especially love working with children and in rural medicine.

I spent my 5th year of the degree in Geraldton as part of the Rural Clinical School and would definitely recommend RCS to future students. I also travelled overseas to Tanzania in East Africa for my medical elective – my first trip overseas!

Since graduating in 2008, I have worked at Fremantle Hospital, Albany Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and also completed some time in General Practice. I am enrolled in Rural GP training and soon will start work as a rural doctor, a career I feel will be extremely fulfilling and enjoyable.
