Guidelines & Application form

2976999In the past few years there have been a number of mobility programs enabling students to study Indigenous cultures in other countries e.g., Bali, Chile, Washington USA.

N.B. There are NO places left in the Fiji Mobility program.

In 2017, there are three opportunities for Indigenous students:

  • Matariki Student Mobility program which is a collaborative one between UWA, University of Otago (New Zealand), Dartmouth College (USA) and Queens University (Canada).  Each year, the Matariki will be held at a different university- in 2016, it was at The University of Otago; this year it will be at UWA. There are TWO places still available for the Matariki to be held in Perth/UWA in July – July 2 – 12 (mid semester break). Students from the University of Otago (New Zealand), Dartmouth College (USA) and Queens University (Canada) as well as some from England will be participating.  The program is designed to foster global scholarship and community engagement on the understanding of Indigenous peoples and their knowledge systems.
  • Fiji – a program of cultural activities, including language training at the University of South Pacific, held in the July break. N.B. There are NO places left in the Fiji Mobility program.
  • Bali, Indonesia – a program focusing on the social, environmental and economic sustainability of Indigenous cultural practices at the village level, held in September. N.B. There are FOUR places still available for Bali Mobility Program to be held from 21 – 29 September (Note part of this is during September study break, but you will also miss approx. 1 week of semester classes).

If interested in taking up a place in either the Matariki or Bali, read the guidelines and complete the expression of interest form and email to sis@uwa.edu.au as soon as possible to ensure you get a place in on of these programs.
