Role of the committee
The role of the committee is to:
- make recommendations to the SIS Management Committee within the School of Indigenous Studies on all teaching and learning matters including strategic priorities, future course/unit developments, policy and means of assessing and improving teaching and learning practices and activities
- enable continual and consistent flow of information and communication between the University and the school (and the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health, CAMDH) on teaching and learning matters, particularly advocating on teaching and learning matters with relevance to Indigenous education
- provide a forum whereby academic staff can comment on and contribute to the ongoing development of teaching and learning activities and initiatives within the School
- provide a forum whereby representatives of the School of Indigenous Studies and CAMDH can discuss and collaborate on teaching and learning matters of common interest and benefit
- share information between the Directorates of the School and between the School and CAMDH.

Membership
The committee comprises of:
- Associate Dean or nominee (Chair)
- up to three members of academic staff in the School
- mainstream lecturer appointed by the Dean
- Director of CAMDH or nominee
- up to two co-opted members, where required for balance or specific expertise or professional development purposes
- up to two standing invitees.
The term of office of each nominated member is normally three years.
