Studying geology at UWA was the obvious choice for me.

I have always enjoyed being active outdoors and the field component of the geology course turned stunning West Australian beaches, ancient mountain ranges and isolated bush tracks into our usual classroom setting. I completed my three-year Bachelor of Science degree and my fourth year honours project with the help of an Indigenous scholarship from an international mining company that also offered me the opportunity to gain practical experience in the industry.

Moving from the country to study in Perth I found the support of numerous student groups essential to settling in to my new surroundings. Living on campus and being part of different sporting and social groups allowed me to meet new people and quickly make friends.

During my final year I was offered a position with one of Australia’s largest oil and gas companies. That is where I am today working as a graduate geologist as part of a world-class graduate development program. I am looking forward to learning all I can about the industry and working and living overseas in the future.
